Tony received his initial formal art training at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Fine Art and studied very briefly with famed Martha’s Vineyard artist, Ray Ellis. For the most part, he is self taught and has only recently begun to paint in earnest. For most of his adult life, Mr. Winch was in the advertising business where he was a Creative Director for one of Boston’s largest advertising agencies. Having worked with Art Directors, illustrators, photographers and commercial film makers he has long had an appreciation for the arts. He paints almost exclusively in oil and tends to focus on landscapes from around the Vineyard.
