Betty Anglin Smith, who lives in Charleston, South Carolina has visited the Vineyard, and like so many others, has fallen for its dramatic vistas, light and color. Her interpretation of a Farm Neck meadow or classic Edgartown in Captains Homestead Garden is positively infused with color.
Ms. Smiths work has won numerous awards in national juried shows across the country, including a Best of show at Charlestons world-famous Spoleto Arts Festival. Her work has been featured in Southern Accents magazine, side by side with that of Wolf Kahn, one of Americas most highly respected artists. A native of the Carolinas, Betty graduated from Winthrop College and took art classes at the College of Charleston. Independent study with nationally-known artists such as Alex Powers, Charles Reid, Robert E. Wood, and Valfred Thelin brought her to the recognition she receives today. Her paintings hang in many private and museum collections across the country. Corporate clients include Walt Disney World, Johnson & Johnson, IBM, BankBoston and U.S. Trust. |
