Born in 1965 in Oxford, England, Paul Rafferty is entirely self-taught, and is consumed with a passion for painting, especially for plein air painting. The influence from 19th and 20th century masters is evident in Paul’s work from the light of Sarolla to the Englishness of Seago. Every Paul Rafferty painting is about light and it’s play on the subject, whether it be colorful beach umbrellas, a beautiful landscape, seascape or still-life.

Having the good fortune of recently moving to the south of France, Rafferty’s work is influenced by the abundant light of that region of the world. “I hope that where ever or what ever I paint, my hand and style shine through”, Rafferty says of his varied subject matter.

Paul is represented throughout the U.S. and Europe. His work is in numerous collections, including that of Fred & Thais Couples, Catherine Zeta Jones & Michael Douglas, and Rod & Penny Stewart.
