Fun, fanciful and folk are just three of the many adjectives that describe this artists work....playful is another! “My sculpture and painting have an abstract constructivist approach. It is also intended that the works have highly textured and colored surfaces. The recent work of the last two years is centered around the stacking blocks sometimes figure based and sometimes architecture based.” Professional sculptor Gustaf Miller grew up in upstate New York and is the son of watercolorist Howard E. Miller. His education includes a BFA and MFA from Syracuse University and further studies abroad in Rome, Italy. Gustaf Miller has been exhibiting his fanciful sculpture for over 40 years and has been in dozens of shows at numerous galleries and museums primarily on the east coast of the U.S. To name just a few: Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA Vero Beach Museum, Vero Beach, FL DeCordova Museum & Sculpture Garden, Lincoln, MA Addison Gallery of American Art, Phillips Academy, Andover, MA Margulies Collection Museum, Miami, FL Graham Gund Architects Collection, Cambridge, MA Museum of Art, Melbourne, FL
