Lori McNee lives in the beautiful mountains of Idaho. She has always enjoyed the great outdoors and its creatures. As a young child, Lori would spend many fruitless hours trying to catch the birds that flocked to her yard. Lori decided to capture the birds on paper with a pencil. From that time on, Lori loved to draw and paint birds and animals.
Lori went on to study art in college, but considers herself self-taught. She apprenticed with the modern masters of wildlife art; Robert Bateman, John Serrey-Lester, Carl Brenders, Guy Coheleach, Alan Hunt and Vivi Crandall. Lori went on to paint and illustrate for Ducks Unlimited and The Nature Conservancy. She has various trout and duck stamps and a few books to her name also. The work of Ms. McNee is characterized by exquisitely painted birds (sometimes butterflies), often perched on a branch or two emanating out of a beautiful antique vase. She keeps the compositions and backgrounds simple in order to bring the eye of the viewer directly to her focal point: the birds. The resulting work is truly stunning. Her paintings have been featured in many publications, including Southwest Art Magazine in an article named, “Flowers and Feathers.” She was featured most recently in the October issue of Wildlife Art Magazine . Lori is a juried member of Oil Painters of America. Miss McNee was recently accepted into the Oil Painter’s Of America National Exhibition in Chicago. |
