Fresh, playful and exuberant are two words that best describe the work of Kimberlee Alemian. Her paintings are full of light, vibrant color and strong loose brushstrokes. Whether Kimberlee is painting the view from her balcony on the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy, or the light filtering through the blinds on her back porch, color and light are foremost on her mind.

Ms. Alemian studied at the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture (with Graham Nickson), received her BFA in Paintings from the Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, and her MFA from Boston University. She was later an Instructor and Associate Professor at Boston University School for the Arts.

As influences, Ms. Alemian sites the work of the Bay Area Figurative Artists. “This group of artists - Richard Diebenkorn, David Park, Elmer Bischoff and Nathan Olivera - have powerful compositions the way they use light, color and the process of applying paint, which are elements that have always interested me. It is what I respond to when I admire the works of masters such as Rembrant, Jacques-Louis David, Ingres, Cezanne and Matisse.”

Ms Alemian, an award winning artist, divides her time between studios and homes on the South Shore of Massachusetts as well as Florida.
